The previous two days have seen whale watchers experience calm waters and lots of whales off shore from Narooma. The whales are slowly making their way south, many with calves in tow. Recent sightings have included land based spots such as Carters Beach in Kianga where we were advised that one humpback was about 200m off the coast. The other sighting came in via a very excited Wazza from Lighthouse Charters who was sitting on the south-east end of Montague Island with a boat full of passengers and about 1/2 a dozen whales.
Personally, I am wondering if we are going to get a visit from the Orcas this year. The past 3 years they have been seen around Montague Island. Before that they were only seen spasmodically, so seeing them back here each year is great. The boats are polished, the weather is superb, the ocean is calm. Get ready for some unforgettable experiences in Eurobodalla this year.
